What is Chikungunya?
Chikungunya is a viral disease transmitted through the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito, causing severe joint pain, fever, and swelling.
How is it Spread?
The virus is spread through the bite of an infected female Aedes mosquito, which acquires the virus by feeding on the blood of an infected person and than it transfer to other healthy persons and effects.
Effects of Chikungunya
Chikungunya can lead to long-term health issues in some people including chronic joint pain specially in small joints , neurological and brain disorders, eye and vision problems, lymphatic system and cardiac ( heart ) issues.
Signs and Symptoms
There are may different symptoms can occur but few most characteristics are following.
High grade fever, severe joint pain and swelling, Headache, Muscle pain, skin rashes , Nausea and vomiting, enlarged painful lymph nodes specially on neck and others may.
Treatment
Treatment focuses on relieving symptoms because there is no any specific treatment available yet in whole world , scientists are still working on many anti viral drugs, but symptomatic treatment may include following measures.
Proper bed rest, Fluid intake, Pain management medication ( but remember do not use local medicines / capsules because most of these capsules contains hidden dangerous chemical ), fever management is also very important with paracetamol etc.
Prevention
Preventive measures include
Using mosquito repellents, Wearing protective clothing, Eliminating standing water around home, Using mosquito nets etc can prevent to spread in society.
Public Awareness
Stay informed, take preventive measures, and seek medical attention if symptoms persist. Early detection and treatment can help prevent long-term health issues.
